Frederick S. ‘Fritz’ Sneek

DIXON – Frederick S. “Fritz” Sneek, 89, of Dixon, died Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at his home.

He was born Nov. 1, 1923, in Freeport, the son of George and Rena (Terhark) Sneek. He married Shirley Fritzenmeier on Sept. 18, 1948, in Freeport. She preceded him in death on Oct. 15, 2007. He served in the Army, 553rd B Battery AAA as a T4 auto mechanic. Fred will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

His survivors include his daughters, Sharri (Dennis) Antoine of West Brooklyn and Becki (John) Martin of Dixon; grandchildren, Joe (Melanie) Bergstrom, Michele Bergstrom, Kristen (Rick) Gaither, and Tyler Burdick; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Chase, Ashley, “Lil” Chase, Bradly, Jerreck, Nykollette, and Gage; great-great-grandchild, Cameron; sisters, Kathryn (Larry) Yingling and Jenny Thompson; and a brother, Melvin (Mary) Sneek.

He was preceded in death by his wife; daughter, Shirlene Kay Sneek, and son, Frederick Douglas Sneek, both in infancy; and brothers Simon and Alfred Sneek.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Dixon. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Vincent Marrandino, director of pastoral care at KSB Hospital in Dixon, officiating.

Interment, with military honors accorded by the combined Dixon veterans group, will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.

A memorial has been established.
