Callers step up to raise money

STERLING – The 14th annual WSDR Celebrity Pie Auction April 12 was a success.

There were 28 community personalities who baked or donated pies for the endeavor.

Bids were taken from 6:15 to 11:45 a.m., with more than $16,000 raised for Relay For Life.

Brian Zschiesche, general manager of the station, was the emcee.

Relay For Life of Whiteside County will be from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. June 8-9 at Hinders Field at Rock Falls Township High School, 101 12th Ave., Rock Falls.

To form a team, attend the survivors meal May 30, and the first lap on June 8, call Cassandra Sendra at 815-229-1287, ext. 3.
