Time for more resignations at City Hall

Published: Tuesday, April 23, 2013 1:15 a.m. CDT

I have said it before and still stand by my words. The only thing that would come out of this that is better for the city of Dixon is to hear of additional resignations by Mayor Burke and Commissioner Blackburn.

I believe that almost, if not all, of Dixon would agree with me. They are guilty by association. Mayor Burke and Mr. Blackburn signed off on personal items bought by Mr. Ortgiesen’s credit card, which in turn means that they thought it was alright to use city money for personal use. Since there was no policy, shame on you both.

If I remember correctly, the interest on a credit card is higher than 5 percent. Where did that figure come from? Maybe it is like the 1 percent interest for 10 years on the loan from Rita Crundwell.

What about the money Ortgiesen received when he was put on leave with pay? Should we not get that money back, also with interest? After all, it, too, is city money.

Mayor Burke, you said at the city council meeting that the mayor is the first one they go after, and you are right. It is because you are at the top of the hill, and it will soon be collapsing around you. Hope you are ready for retirement after this term.
