Wisely or not, city tax money still gets spent

Dixon is once again embroiled in financial misdeeds. This time the presumed culprit is Shawn Ortgiesen, who has abused the privilege of his city-issued credit card.

The size and scope of the prior misdeeds (Rita Crundwell) as opposed to the present (Shawn) makes Shawn’s malfeasance seem like peanuts. I have no idea as to why Shawn felt the need to use his city-issued credit card for personal purchases; I do know what Rita used her ill-gotten gains for.

Aside from the fact that Rita spent more than she should have on embellishment for herself – furs and jewelry – I have no trouble embracing the idea that she spent Dixon residents’ money wisely on her beautiful horses, for who in their right mind doesn’t love horses?

To put this into perspective, think of all the money the state and federal government has stolen from you over the years. Are you happy with how that money was spent?

Most likely, a good share of it went to support individuals who refuse to work or take any responsibility for themselves, and who are collectively worth probably less than one of Rita’s former horses.
