Straw breaks camel’s back; mayor must go

Published: Saturday, April 20, 2013 1:15 a.m. CDT

Although my home address is not Dixon, I own property in Dixon and pay enough Dixon taxes to deserve a voice in the shameful conduct of city business.

The recent shame should be the straw that breaks the camel’s back, causing the public to demand Mayor Burke’s resignation and resignations from any other officials who approved Ortgiesen requisitions.

It appears from the news reports that Ortgiesen hid nothing. I am not saying what he did was right, but his actions were reported and approved. I’m more outraged by the lack of supervision and accountability by the elected officials that condoned his behavior – and then acted shocked when the new finance director called attention to the problem.

Anyone who is part of the problem should not be trusted to solve the problem. City Hall is dirty, and it’s time for a good spring cleaning.

Anyone want to buy a house in Dixon? I have one for sale.

P.S. – I wish I had a credit card that charged only 5 percent interest.
