STERLING – Sterling police are seeking witnesses who can give them an unbiased account of a three-vehicle, two-collision accident at Polo Road and Lincolnway on Wednesday afternoon.

Police responded about 1:20 p.m. to the intersection near Applebee’s and Blain’s Farm & Fleet.

Police determined that a vehicle driven by Clarence G. Carber, 39, of Sterling, was starting westbound in traffic when a vehicle driven by Stacey L. Rosalez, 40, of Sterling, rear-ended it. A third vehicle, driven by Leesa M. Boyd, 48, of Dixon, subsequently crashed into the stopped cars.

Carber, who complained of back pain, was taken to CGH Medical Center.

Police issued no citations because those involved in the crash provided conflicting statements.

The heavy rain Wednesday was not believed to be a factor in the collision, police said. Witnesses are asked to call the Sterling police at 815-632-6640.
