Learn about libertarianism Tuesday night

Why do you vote the way you do? Is it because you’ve always done it that way? Do you really believe in the candidates you choose? Or do you feel like it doesn’t matter which candidate you vote for because they’re all the same?

Seldom do we articulate our core beliefs when we vote, because we don’t usually know where candidates really stand on specific issues, or there isn’t a candidate who represents our values.

We’re forced to choose between the D and the R. All other parties have been successfully excluded from the political process by the coercive power and money of the Republican and Democratic parties.

It’s time for this to change. It’s time to welcome other voices into the debate.

We’re told by politicians how many ounces of soda we can purchase, what qualifies as acceptable insurance coverage, how many bullets we can have in our guns (if we are deemed worthy enough to own them in the first place), even what is an appropriate way to defend ourselves from rape.

We must begin to think for ourselves and stop accepting the two-party lie. The deadlock in Washington accomplishes nothing but increasing debt, strangling innovation, and reducing liberty, and both Republicans and Democrats are to blame.

Remember, they work for us – not the other way around.

Please join us at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Loveland Community Building in Dixon as we welcome Lex Green, former political director of the Illinois Libertarian Party. Lex will explain what the Libertarian Party is all about.

Libertarians are portrayed in the media as selfish, pot-smoking hippies, but libertarianism is simply a belief in maximum freedom and personal responsibility. Their platform unites those on both sides of the political spectrum.

Join us and learn the truth about this alternative to the status quo.
