The Rock River Open Forum invites the public to a meeting at 6 p.m. Monday at the Sterling Public Library.
The agenda will ask participants to provide information, suggestions and possible actions on a wide variety of subjects, some of which are poverty, Social Security, drones, global warming, energy sources (fracking, the Keystone pipelines), sustainability, genetically modified seeds, Citizens United, chem trails, and the actions of our local, state and federal governments.
The group has been using the “see, judge and act” process. It is impossible to know everything, so members have chosen subjects that have been mentioned above. They present their knowledge of the issue (see), offer their analysis of the issue (judge), and offer suggestions regarding the situation (act).
At our April 11 meeting, a participant who has been studying the efforts to cut Social Security offered her insights into the immediate effort to cut Social Security and Medicare in the Obama budget. We decided to phone Sens. Durbin and Kirk and Rep. Bustos at 866-338-1015 and express our indignation. (Calls took only about 10 minutes to make). Also, we called the president at 202-456-1111.
Please feel welcome to become a part of our group. The best way is to come to a meeting and see, judge and act.
