CHICAGO (AP) — The National Weather Service has issued flood warnings for parts of north and central Illinois as a thunderstorm moved across the state.
A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Fulton and Knox counties. Flash flood warnings were issued Wednesday for 15 counties in Illinois, including Cook County. Forecasters say there is the potential for severe storms through Thursday. Rainfall accumulations were estimated at between 2 and 4 inches for much of Illinois.

Officials in Lake County say the Fox and Des Plaines rivers were at flood stage on Wednesday. They say the storm could cause flooding. In Gurnee officials asked for volunteers to help with sandbagging against floodwaters.
