Dixon holds off Streator

Kari Wolfe and Rachel Musser homered, Erin Smith had three hits and pitched an inning of no-hit relief to save the Dixon Duchesses’ 8-6 victory Tuesday afternoon in Streator.

Brooke Bailey also had three hits, and matched Wolfe with three RBIs, while Haley Fitzsimmons had three hits.

Jones pitched into the sixth, allowing three earned runs. The Bulldogs scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to chase her from the circle, but Smith came on and closed the door, striking out two of the three batters she faced.

Sterling 13, Geneseo 2: Priscilla Aponte homered twice and drove in five runs to lead the Golden Warriors past the Maple Leafs in Geneseo.

Bardoner each had three hits to pace a 19-hit attack for Sterling (6-1, 3-1 NIB-12 West). Oetting also drove in three runs.

Stephanie Kester (6-1) got the win, allowing two runs and three hits in seven innings.

Fulton 6, Kewanee 5: With a run in the top of the seventh, the Steamers pulled out a Three Rivers game on the road.

Jenna Jones had three of the 13 hits for Fulton (4-2, 1-2 Three Rivers), which scored five in the top of the fourth.

Dakota 13, AFC 2, 5 inn.: The Raiders scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth, but it was too late to avoid the 10-run rule in an NUIC East road game.

Lauren Meurer had a double, and Marissa Sanford allowed 17 hits and took the complete-game loss for AFC (1-4, 0-3).

West Carroll sweeps on road: Ieshia Larson went 3-for-4 and drove in five runs to lead West Carroll to a 20-3 victory over Scales Mound-River Ridge in Scales Mound.

Cassidy Rice was the winning pitcher.

The Thunder (5-9, 5-0 NUIC West) made it a sweep by taking Game 2, 7-1. Rice knocked in two runs, while Allison
Thulen tossed a 3-hitter.

College softball

Skyhawks split at home: Cali Bartholomew tossed 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief as Sauk Valley beat visiting Highland 4-1. Kiara Kaleel went the first 5 1/3 innings, allowing one run and four hits.

Kaiti Mathey had three hits and an RBI to pace the offense. It marked the 100th win at SVCC for coach Bob Lowe.

Highland took the second game, 7-5. Courtney Shepard had three hits for Sauk Valley (18-10-1, 8-6 Arrowhead).
