GRAND DETOUR – David Laval Shank, 72, of Grand Detour, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2013, at OSF Saint Francis Hospital in Peoria. He owned and operated Porky’s Bar and Grill in Dixon.

David was born April 17, 1940, in Dixon, the son of Laval and Ruth Shank. He married Bonnie Cruse on Sept. 2, 1983, in Dixon. He served in the Marine Corps.

Survivors include his wife of Dixon; four sons, John (Jennifer) Shank of Dixon, Kevin (Michelle) Cruse of Washington, Bucky (Renee) Cruse of Michigan, and Bud (Kim) Cruse of Dixon; three daughters, Laura Hicks of Maryland, and Cheryl (Bob) Near and Kimberly (Matt) Sanford, both of Dixon; one brother, Lawrence (Mary) Shank; 17 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters.

There will be no services. Cremation rites have been accorded. Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon is handling arrangements.

A memorial has been established.
