Young owners to have new group

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Beef Association has formed the Illinois Junior Beef Association.

The first meeting, election of directors, and an ice cream social will take place during the state fair in August.

The JAB will be governed by a nine-member board (two directors representing each JAB district and one at-large director), which will be elected each year during the annual meeting of the JAB. Nomination forms for election are available at and are to be postmarked and sent to the IBA, 2060 W. Iles Ave., Suite B, Springfield, IL 62704 by June 1.

Junior memberships are available for to any youth through their 22nd birthday. To participate in JAB events, members must be 8 years old by Jan. 1, of the current year and have not yet turned 22 years old by Jan. 1, of the current year. Junior membership dues are $25.

Members of the JAB are eligible for receiving the January-February and July-August (junior-focused) issues of Illinois Beef magazine. They also can participate in conferences, shows, contests, leadership training, scholarships, and internships
