Genoveva B. Alcantar

ROCK FALLS – Genoveva B. Alcantar, 92, of Rock Falls, died Thursday, April 11, 2013, in Dixon.

Genoveva was born Feb. 4, 1921, in Lagos de Moreno, Jal, Mexico, the daughter of Leonso and Virginia (Aguila) Velazquez. Genoveva was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls. She married Jose Jimenez Alcantar on Oct. 22, 1946, in Mexico. He preceded her in death on April 6, 1973.

Survivors include two daughters, Maria Leal and Letty (John) Alcantar-Bonnell, both of Dixon; three sons, Jamie Jiminez, George (Patty) Alcantar, and James Velazquez, all of Rock Falls; two sisters, Maximina Marquez of Rock Falls and Ana Maria Lopez of Sterling; two brothers, Rojelio Velazquez of Rock Falls and Joe Velazquez of Lyndon; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by four brothers, Juan Velazquez, Rodolfo Velazquez, Antonio Velazquez, and Carlos Velazquez; and two sisters, Eustolia Moreno, and Carmela Galvan.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday and the Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at noon Saturday at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls, with Monsignor Thomas Dzielak officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Sterling. McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
