WRONGFUL DEATH LAWSUIT: The family of Samuel L. Munz, 53, of Sterling, is suing Theresa A. Ruf, 42, of Chadwick. Munz was killed in June when his motorcycle was rear-ended by Ruf about a half-mile east of Ridge Road.

Friday

WRONGFUL DEATH SUIT: The family of Patrick McCann, 40, of Polo, is suing Ogle County jail, county officials, and various medical groups and personnel. McCann was burned March 30, 2010, after setting his mother’s Polo house on fire. He died a month later in the jail.

DEFAMATION LAWSUIT: Former Dixon School District varsity boys basketball coach and athletic director Steve Sandholm filed a defamation lawsuit in March 2008 against nine players’ parents; NRG Media, parent company of local radio station WIXN; and the station’s general manager. It was dismissed July 2009, and reinstated in January by the state Supreme Court.

BURGLARY CASE: Josephine Emmons, 18, of Big Rock; charged with residential burglary and theft. Police say Emmons and another person broke into an Amboy home and stole money and jewelry in January.

MURDER CASE: Steven A. Watts, 56, of Berryville, Ark.; charged with first-degree murder in connection with the beating and suffocation death of Gary D. Dawson, 30, of Peoria, in late August 1983.

On the docket: Pretrial conference.

SEX ABUSE/SEX ASSAULT CASE: Douglas P. Delhotal, 54, of Dixon; charged with three counts of criminal sexual assault and six counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Police say he molested a 13-year-old girl several times between November 2009 and January 2010.

On the docket: Pretrial conference.

BATTERY CASE: Christopher J. Dever, 40, of Rock Falls; charged with two counts of aggravated battery. Prosecutors say Dever, a guard at the Dixon Correctional Center, shoved an inmate into a door frame and shoved a guard.

On the docket: Pretrial conference. 

HEROIN CASE: Alax M. Farster, 36, of Dixon; charged with two counts each of delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, delivery of a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance. 

Police say Farster sold heroin to an informant more than once during a 6-month drug investigation. He was arrested Nov. 27.

BATTERY/INVOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER CASE: Charles T. George, 35, of Dixon; charged with two counts of aggravated battery of a child, aggravated domestic battery, and involuntary manslaughter. Police say George shook his 3-month-old daughter, Tamari, in September 2010. The girl died several days later from blunt-force trauma to the head.

DRUG CASE: Edward A. Lane, 54, of Dixon; charged with two counts each of delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a park; delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a church; delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school; delivery of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance, and one count of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Police say Lane sold cocaine to a police informant several times in June 2010.

SEX ASSAULT CASE: Jordan LeMay, 22, of Franklin Grove; charged with three counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child. Police say LeMay raped a girl younger than 13 in summer 2009.

On the docket: Decision on motion to suppress statements. 

HOME INVASION/RAPE CASE: Jeffrey K. Mischler, 28, of Hinckley; charged with home invasion and criminal sexual assault. Police say Mischler broke into a Dixon woman’s house on May 26, 2011, and raped her while she was passed out after a night of drinking. 

On the docket: Pretrial conference.  

SEX ABUSE CASE: George M. Munnich, 55, of Ashton; charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Prosecutors say Munnich fondled a girl younger than 18 on Dec. 20, 2009. 

On the docket: Pretrial conference. 

CHILD ABUSE CASE: Naylor L. Rice, 19, of Dixon; charged with aggravated battery of a child, aggravated domestic battery, and criminal sexual abuse, a misdemeanor. Police say Rice broke the arm of a 1-year-old girl on Dec. 31 when he forcefully grabbed and pulled her. Police also say Rice had sex with the girl’s mother, who is 15.

Friday

GUN CASE: Joseph Ferlauto, 47, of Dixon; charged with possession of a firearm without a Firearm Owner’s Identification Card and possession of firearm ammunition, both misdemeanors. Police say Ferlauto sold a 22-caliber handgun and ammunition to an informant in November.

DISTRIBUTION OF HARMFUL MATERIALS CASE: Shannan L. Haenitsch, 40, of Polo; charged with distribution of harmful materials, a misdemeanor. 

Police say Haenitsch gave a sexual video of himself to a 17-year-old on March 2, 2012.
