Police: Car set on fire; could be gang-related

Published: Thursday, April 11, 2013 1:15 a.m. CDT

STERLING – Police are looking for information on whoever set a car on fire in front of a home in the 1100 block of Dillon Avenue shortly after midnight Tuesday.

No one was injured in the incident, which may be gang-related, Detective Sgt. Steve Hubbard said.

Sterling police were called at 12:12 a.m. A resident of the home had doused the fire, which damaged a 1989 Lincoln Town Car that belongs to a 60-year-old man. It appears someone put a flammable liquid on the trunk and set it on fire, Hubbard said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sterling Police Department at 815-632-6640 or the anonymous reward hotline, Whiteside County Crime Stoppers, at 815-625-7867.
