The Erie-Prophetstown Panthers roared back from an 8-3 deficit to beat Riverdale 9-8 in a Three Rivers game Monday in Prophetstown.

The Panthers (6-3, 3-0) scored a run in the sixth and five in the seventh, capped by Owen McConnell’s walkoff hit. Ethan Howard (2-1) got the win, while Jordan Chandler drove in three runs, and Austin Meadows added two RBIs.

Kewanee 6, Newman 4: The Comets rallied, but couldn’t complete a comeback in a Three Rivers game in Kewanee.

Trevor Bolin (0-1) took the loss for Newman, which scored twice in the top of the fifth to make it 4-3 Kewanee. But the Boilermakers scored two in the bottom half.

LaSalle-Peru 8, Sterling 3: The Cavaliers scored four runs in the bottom of the second and added insurance late in both teams’ Northern Illinois Big 12 West opener in Peru.

Kaleb Francque (0-1) worked 5 1/3 innings and drove in a run, but took the loss for Sterling (4-4, 0-1). Logan Rippy went 2-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI, a run and a stolen base.

Adam Happ had two hits and two RBIs and worked a scoreless seventh for LaSalle-Peru (5-3, 1-0).

Geneseo 8, Dixon 0: Billy Converse threw a five-hitter in both teams’ NIB-12 West opener in Geneseo.

Jared Frey had two of the five singles for Dixon (2-7, 0-1), and five different Maple Leafs (1-0) drove in runs.

Lena-Winslow 2, West Carroll 1: Trevor Jones took a bona fide tough-luck loss, and Marshall Benters was also deserving of a better fate in a road loss.

Jones (0-1) struck out six and walked four in 5 1/3 innings without allowing a hit, and Benters recorded the last two outs to finish the no-hitter. But the Thunder (2-4, 2-1 NUIC West) committed three costly errors.

Tyler Westerman went 2-for-2 with two doubles and an RBI in the first for West Carroll. Le-Win scored in the fifth and sixth.

Milledgeville 3, Orangeville 0: Zach Herin threw a three-hitter and collected two of his own in a nonconference game in Milledgeville.

Herin struck out eight and walked two. Jordan Harris had two RBIs and two stolen bases for the Missiles (2-3). Don Stewart struck out nine, but took the complete-game loss for the Broncos.
