Sterling man jailed on two narcotics charges

DIXON – A Sterling man was arrested Tuesday in an ongoing drug investigation and charged with dealing a prescription painkiller, police said in a news release.

Diego A. Juarez, 30, is charged with delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a church and delivery of a controlled substance, both felonies.

Juarez was arrested at 2:15 p.m. near the intersection of Central Place and West Fifth Street. He sold oxycodone worth about $100 to an informant, the release said.

He was taken to Lee County Jail; a bond hearing is set for today.

Juarez was sentenced in Whiteside County Court in August to 4 years for burglary.
