WADSWORTH (AP) — The principal of a suburban Chicago elementary school says things are getting back to normal after a school bus crash killed one adult and sent dozens of children to the hospital.
Newport Elementary School Principal John Coburn said Monday that some students still have "bumps and bruises." But Coburn tells the Daily Herald that the mood at the school is positive and upbeat. The crash happened Friday morning. Police said the bus crashed into a Jeep, spun around and then hit another vehicle before flipping onto its side.
Social workers were available for children to talk with on Monday. Police officers brought students their backpacks and other belongings that were left on the school bus.
Lake County sheriff's police continue to investigate the crash.
