HARTFORD (AP) — Two adults remain missing and one boy was rescued after a boat capsized on the Mississippi River near Hartford in southern Illinois.

Authorities say the accident happened Saturday afternoon near where the Mississippi River and the Missouri River meet. About 20 firefighters searched for the two adults. Police say a 10-year-old boy was pulled from the water on Saturday.

Rescue workers from Illinois, Missouri and the U.S. Coast Guard searched the river. Alton Fire Department Battalion Chief David Eichen says searchers looked for the missing adults for several hours but they could not be found.

Hartford is about 17 miles north of St. Louis.
