Prep softball: Amboy sweeps Polo-Forreston on road

Duchesses, Hawks split in Oregon

The Dixon Duchesses salvaged a doubleheader split Saturday at Oregon Park West, beating the Hawks 7-5 in the second game after Oregon won the opener 13-0 in five innings.

Kayla Pottorff had three RBIs, Hope Smith and Kayla Smith drove in two runs each, and Emma Crandall (2-0) struck out six without a walk in a shutout for the Hawks (2-3) in Game 1. Beccah Jones (0-3) took the loss for Dixon (1-3).

Erin Smith won her season debut in Game 2, striking out seven and walking three. Kari Wolfe had four hits and two RBIs for Dixon. Hope Smith had four hits and an RBI for Oregon.

Clippers take two at home: Cassey Doege went 8-for-8 with two home runs, a triple and two doubles to help Amboy sweep Forreston-Polo, 15-10 and 11-8.

Doege went 5-for-5 in the opener with a triple, two doubles and five RBIs.

Doege smacked two homers in the second game, and Destinee Oenes went 3-for-3.

Meg Cullor had three doubles in the twin bill for Forreston-Polo.

Panthers win two at own invite: Erie-Prophetstown thumped both Stockton and West Carroll 12-1 in five innings, but fell 16-0 to Benet Academy in five to take third place at the Panther Invitational in Prophetstown.

The Panthers (7-1) got three RBIs apiece from Savannah Mettler and Stephanie Thulen against West Carroll. Mettler had six RBIs against Stockton.

The Thunder went 0-3, also losing to Benet 18-0 and Lanphier 7-4. Emily Yurk tossed a no-hitter for Benet, while Allison Thulen and Sydney Castro had RBIs against Lanphier.

Milledgeville wins consolation in Freeport: After losing twice, Milledgeville routed the host of the Lady Pretz Invite.

The Missiles lost 6-4 to Marengo in pool play and 4-3 to Morrison in bracket play, but thumped Freeport 11-1 in five innings for the consolation title.

College softball

Sauk sweeps Kish on road: The Skyhawks followed up a 13-2, five-inning win with a 6-4 decision in Malta.

Kiara Kaleel (6-3) struck out six and walked three in the opener, and also drove in two runs. Sam St. George had three hits and an RBI, and Kaiti Mathey had her first of two two-hit games.

Cali Bartholomew (4-4) had three hits and three RBIs in the nightcap, and also picked up the win in the circle. Therese Jender had two hits and an RBI for Sauk (13-8, 4-4 Arrowhead), to go with an RBI in Game 1.
