The Erie-Prophetstown Panthers won nine events, including all four relays, to win the girls portion of the Gebhardt-Worley Invitational on Saturday at Landers-Loomis Field.
E-P’s 154 points easily topped Freeport’s 87. The hosting Oregon Hawks were third in the six-team meet with 81 points.
Courtney Cobert and Paige Rus paced the Panthers with four wins each. Cobert won the 100 (12.96 seconds) and also ran legs on the 400 relay (52.51), 800 relay (1:49.40) and 1,600 relay (4:17.65). Rus won the triple jump (34 feet, 4 inches) and high jump (5-2), and also ran in the 800 and 1,600 relays.
Oregon got wins from Cydney Long in the 100 hurdles (17.28), Jenn Rogers in the 1,600 (6:03.55), Shannon Cullen in the shot put (38-0 1/2) and Ryan Starkey in the pole vault (7-0).
BV sixth at Mendota: Lindsey Hoffert and Regan Weidner won individual events, and the Storm topped the field in the 400 relay at the Don Gooden Co-Ed Invite.
Hoffert won the 400 (1:05.14) and ran a leg in the 400 relay (54.59 seconds), while Weidner took the 3,200 (12:41.73). BV scored 52 points, as Byron won with 141.
Amboy was 11th out of 14 teams with 27 points.
Hawks second at home: Mark Schmidt won the pole vault (13-0), and Pierce Dhaese took the high jump (6-0) as Oregon finished second in the Gebhardt-Worley Invitational.
Lena-Winslow had 131 points, 28 more than the runner-up Hawks. Erie-Prophetstown was third with 80.
Oregon also won the 1,600 (3:37.32) and 3,200 (9:05.59) relays.
Erie-Prophetstown’s Devin Johnson won the 100 (11.05) and 400 (51.31), while John Butts went 147-1 to win the discus. The Panthers won the 800 relay (1:35.64).
Kiwanis Invite: Sterling finished eighth among 12 teams in the ‘A’ portion of the Kiwanis Invitational, hosted by United Township H.S. in East Moline. An A-B-C scoring format was used.
The Warriors finished with 41 ‘A’ points. Kaneland won with 131. Top performances came from Keanu Interone, second in the pole vault (12-6); and the 1,600 relay team of Andrew Garcia, Cornell Hartz, Draque Penaflor-Heier and Dakota Trancoso, second in 3:37.53.
Gaije Fowler won the ‘B’ Division high jump by clearing 6-2.
BV wins in Mendota: The Storm won three of the four relays and scored 103 points to win the Don Gooden Co-Ed Invite, beating runner-up Byron (88.5 points) and third-place Sandwich (86).
Conor Mooney won BV’s lone individual title in the 110 hurdles (18.38 seconds). Logan Hoffert and Daniel Trone both ran in the 400 relay (47.13) and 1,600 relay (3:39.36), while Ryan Taylor ran in the 1,600 and 3,200 relays (9:02.28).
Amboy placed 11th in the 14-team meet with 27 points.
Dixon 4, Winnebago 0: The Duchesses scored three quick goals at A.C. Bowers Field.
Kirsten DeArvil had a goal and two assists, and Katherine Provo added a goal and an assist for Dixon, which led 3-0 at halftime. Kacie Dillow and Cristin Rozek added goals, and Erika Taylor dished an assist.
