DIXON – Thursday’s pretrial conference for Brian C. Sigler, who faces one count of first-degree murder in the death of his wife, Yolanda M. Sigler, was rescheduled for next month.

His attorney, Jim Mertes, asked for the delay so he could review evidence. Pretrial motions now are expected to be heard May 16.

Sigler, 34, appeared briefly in court Thursday via closed-circuit TV. He is in Lee County Jail on $2 million bond.

According to court documents, Sigler choked his 34-year-old wife to death in their home at 230 Lincolnway on Jan. 12, then stabbed himself in the neck and abdomen with a knife.
