Vote Storey for roads chief

Published: Thursday, April 4, 2013 1:15 a.m. CST

Are you tired of poor roads, worn signs, overgrown trees, and unmown ditches, not to mention the poor quality of snow removal in Palmyra Township? I know my family and I are. It is time for a change, and that change is Derrick Storey.

My family has owned property in Palmyra Township since the 1800s. We understand what it is like to live in the country and that living on a township road is different than a city street, but the quality of the work and service in Palmyra Township is unacceptable.

I have known Derrick for 15 years. I have worked with him, and I know he is hard-working. He also cares about Palmyra Township.

Derrick is highly qualified for this job. He has more than 12 years of snow- and ice-removal experience. Derrick has experience operating and maintaining heavy equipment. He has 10 years of road construction and road maintenance experience. Derrick is used to being on call and will be available when he is needed.

I support Derrick Storey for Palmyra Township road commissioner, and you should, too. Please vote for Derrick Storey on Tuesday, April, 9. He is the best candidate for the job.

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
