It was during Mayor David H. Blanton’s term in office that the construction of a new sewer plant was accomplished, mostly out of necessity. This new, state-of-the-art sewer plant will be able to meet the needs of Rock Falls for many years to come, and it will be a strong playing card in future developments for the city of Rock Falls.
While most residents of Rock Falls should know that the city was under the gun from the state to construct the new sewage plant, it was accomplished at a minimum cost thanks to the mayor and the city council.
I don’t like increased costs. But when you have no choice, I feel that the mayor’s leadership in accomplishing this multimillion-dollar project at a minimum price has now created a huge asset for the city and its residents.
As I said, I don’t like spending money any more than the next guy on something like a sewer plant. But consider the alternative.
Mayor Blanton always asks, “How are you going to pay for it?” And I like that. It’s common sense. And the mayor has it.
