Prophetstown High addition dedication planned for Sunday

PROPHETSTOWN – Prophetstown High School plans to dedicate its new addition at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the school, 310 W. Riverside Drive.

The 60,000-square-foot addition includes a commons area; a gymnasium with locker rooms and a weight room; band and choir rooms; a library, computer lab and distance-learning classroom; and nine classrooms, three science labs and an art room.

The Prophetstown-Lyndon-Tampico School District plans to transform the building into a regional school for more than 500 sixth- through 12th-graders in the fall.

The district broke ground on the addition about a year ago.

Members of the community may tour the building. State Rep. Mike Smiddy, D-Hillsdale, and former state Rep. Jerry Mitchell are expected to speak at the ceremony.
