The McDonald's restaurant building, at 1003 First Ave. in Rock Falls, will be torn down and a new one built in its place.

ROCK FALLS – It's a Big Mac attack of a whole other variety.

The McDonald's at 1003 First Ave. will be torn down and completely rebuilt, Rock Falls Building Inspector Mark Searing said.

He isn't sure when work will begin, but the corporation has been planning to do the project for about a year, Searing said. He expects to get its plans within the next 2 weeks, which the city will review to ensure city codes are met.

The corporation rebuilds buildings when they reach a certain age, as they did with the Sterling restaurant in 2000, he said. He did not know how old the building is.

The new restaurant likely will be "very similar to what they have now," he said.

The corporation did not return calls for comment.
