Sterling senior goalkeeper Callie Sinn made nine saves and got all the support she needed in a 1-0 victory Tuesday in Rochelle.

Julia Diaz scored for Sterling (1-2), a goal off a Celeena Remmers assist.

Princeton 1, Dixon 0: The Duchesses had plenty of second-half scoring chances, but couldn’t convert any of them in a nonconference road loss.

The Tigers (1-3-0) scored in the last 5 seconds of the first half on a corner kick. Carly Hartle made five saves for Dixon (0-1-1).

Boys tennis

DeKalb 3, Dixon 2: The Dukes forced a third set in two pivotal doubles matches, but couldn’t pull out either decisive set and, in turn, a meet victory.

LaSalle-Peru 5, Sterling 0: Jonathon Downing and Dustin Stoudt battled in a 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 No. 1 doubles loss, but none of the Golden Warriors could force a third set on the road.

Jefferson 4, Newman 1: Four of the five matches went to a third set, but only J.P Neisewander and Andrew Schmitt could pull out a Comets’ victory in Rockford.

The Newman (0-4) duo won the No. 1 doubles match 7-6, 6-4, 10-7.
