Keep Bushman as roads chief

Published: Friday, April 5, 2013 1:15 a.m. CST

I have been married to Jim Bushman, the incumbent road commissioner of Palmyra Township, for 46 years. We have four children and seven grandchildren. We have lived in Palmyra Township for the past 24 years.

During that period, my husband has been the road commissioner of this township for the past 12 years. He lives for two things: his family and his road commissioner position. He is ever so dedicated to his position and to serving the wonderful people of Palmyra Township on a full-time basis.

I do not know why anyone would not vote for Jim, who has always treated his position and the people he serves as a full-time occupation and, furthermore, deny this man the only job he has and loves.

As full-time road commissioner, Jim has worked extremely hard during his tenure and has tried his very best to please the great people of Palmyra Township. The ultimate result being, he gets the job done.

It is extremely important that you vote, and for the benefit of Jim and our family, we would deeply appreciate your vote on April 9 so he can continue to provide the best possible service to the fine folks of Palmyra Township.

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
