PALOS HEIGHTS (AP) — A former music teacher at a suburban Chicago high school has been arrested on charges of criminal sexual abuse for allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old student.
Thirty-four-year-old Kenneth Martin was charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse after a yearlong investigation into allegations that he had sexual relationships with two female students at Chicago Christian High School in Palos Heights. Palos Heights Deputy Police Chief Dave Delaney says investigators believe Martin had sex with a second student, but that he's not charged in that case because the student isn't cooperating with investigators.
Authorities say Martin's legal name was Kenneth Whitney when he worked at the school. Officials there say he stopped being a teacher at the school in the summer of 2009.
