STERLING – Marian Dace, 88, of Sterling, died Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at her home.

Born Nov. 20, 1924, in Sterling, she was a daughter of Karl and Emma (Simanthel) Schueler. On July 29, 1950, she married Gilbert “Jim” Dace in Bettendorf, Iowa. He died June 27, 1996.

Marian was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Rock Falls, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir. She formerly served on the board of directors at Christ Lutheran School and enjoyed helping in the thrift shop. Marian worked at National Manufacturing, in the IBM department for 6 years, and later at Lee Wayne for 12 years, until she retired in 1988.

Surviving are two daughters, Diane (Bruce) Griffith of Sycamore and Gayle Dace of Wake Forest, N.C.; two grandchildren, Kristin (Michael) Albrecht of Glen Ellyn and Kara (Doug) Brouwer of Sycamore; and four great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Leesman; and a brother, Ronald Schueler.

Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Friday and the funeral at 1 p.m. Friday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Rock Falls, with the Rev. Daniel Behmlander, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling. McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls is handling arrangements.

Memorials have been established to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Christ Lutheran School, and Hospice of the Rock River Valley.
