Keep Bushman as roads chief

Published: Saturday, April 6, 2013 1:15 a.m. CST

Jim Bushman deserves to be re-elected as road commissioner for Palmyra Township. He has held the position for 12 years and knows every inch of the 50-plus miles of the township, and every dollar spent on the budget.

He is at the garage almost every day and does the job full time. Anytime someone calls, he does whatever he can to please the people of this township. Other candidates have full-time jobs, while Jim is dedicated to this job at all times. Many times he does the work himself, rather than hire it out, which, in turn, saves the township money.

Even during his recent illness, he was fully committed to making sure the roads were safe. His health has greatly improved, and he is perfectly capable of serving the township for another term.

So, if you want someone who will do the work himself rather than hire it out while they attend to another job, vote Jim Bushman on April 9 for a full-time road commissioner.

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
