Keep Blanton as city’s mayor

Published: Saturday, April 6, 2013 1:15 a.m. CST

If you are looking for a reason to vote for incumbent Mayor David H. Blanton in the upcoming spring election, look no further than the Rock Falls riverfront. What has been accomplished during his mayoral term needs to be continued into the future.

By economic development standards, the accomplishments have been on the fast track. There were many dedicated individuals in Rock Falls who helped make this a reality, alongside a humble mayor who had a very strong hand in negotiations to accomplish this project.

Without his guidance and influence, this project might not have been completed for several years. There were numerous behind-the-scenes meetings that Mayor Blanton was involved in with the state of Illinois and other developers. Also to be noted is that this project includes a sizable “green space” that will be able to be utilized by the citizens of both Rock Falls and Sterling for decades to come.

There is still much to be done on the riverfront, and that is why Mayor Blanton needs to be re-elected on April 9. Vote for Mayor Blanton.

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
