AHS Student of Month

Senior Trenton Ely, 18, is Amboy High School’s March Student of the Month. He is the son of Dennis and Melinda Ely, and the brother of Madeline Ely.

Favorite class: Psychology, because I love learning how the brain works and why we think what we think. Also I love the teacher. Hey-oh, Mr. Drover.

Top teacher: Elizabeth Scriven, English. She is an amazing teacher because she genuinely wants us to learn, she makes us think, and she is a super-duper, awesome, fun person.

Extracurriculars: I’m a percussionist in the AHS band. I run track and field. I’m part of the AHS Scholastic Bowl. I’m part of the spring musical.

After graduation: I’m thinking about studying music.

Paycheck: I’m a lifeguard at Woodhaven Lakes. I have a blast when I work because of the people I work with.

Best friend: Savana Watley. She’s always been there for me when I need someone and is the “funnest” person I know. There is never a dull moment when I’m with her. She’s the “bestest.”

Read this: “Perks of Being a Wallflower,” by Stephen Chbosky. It’s about a boy with issues trying to get through freshman year. I liked it because I saw parts of myself in a lot of the characters, and it just had an impact on me.

What kind of music makes your skin crawl? Country and some really hard-core rap.

Favorite singer or musical group: Lana Del Rey 2.

Favorite actor: Kristen Wiig.

Favorite TV show: “Game of Thrones.”

Hobbies: Playing drums and Hunting Monsters video game.

Favorite game or outdoor activity: Jumping on the trampoline.

Favorite food: Pizza.

Biggest fear: Drowning.

Least favorite class: History.

What makes your blood boil? Redundancy.

Where are some of the places you like to hang out? My house, my friends’ houses, the park, because I usually have a good time with my friends and family.

What is the key to surviving high school? Be true to yourself and let the hurtful things people do go over your head.

What is the one thing you learned in school that you think you will never use? I tried to take classes in which I would actually learn something, so no useless knowledge here.

I’m in the dictionary next to: Humorous. I’m almost never completely serious, but when I am, you’ll know.

Secret twin: I can’t think of anyone. My friend says I’m a rare bear.

Tell me something about yourself that most people don’t know: I’m very self-critical.

Dream job: Professional singer (hopefully the voice comes with the job).

Trading places: I don’t want to trade places with anyone. I like my life the way it is.

Shout out to: My parents, who never ease up on me (in a good way – sometimes).

Also to all of my friends and family who have given me support and all-around helped me in hard times.
