STERLING – Eunice D. Karr, 72, of Sterling, died Thursday, March 28, 2013, at her home.

Eunice was born Feb. 4, 1941, in Canton, the daughter of Earl Donald and Agnes Rose (Stokes) Shipp. She married Douglas D. Karr on Sept. 7, 1957, in Kahoka, Mo., and was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Sterling.

Eunice graduated in 1992 from Sauk Valley Community College with her associate degree in nursing and worked as a registered nurse at CGH Medical Center for 12 years.

Survivors include her husband, Douglas, of Sterling; two daughters, Eunice Karr of Macon, Mo. and Deborah (Gerardo) Celestino of Sterling; a son, Douglas Karr of New Bern, N.C.; a brother, Lawrence (Mary) Shipp of El Paso, Ill.; and two grandchildren, Kaleb Celestino and Gabriela Celestino.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Rosalee Miller and Esther Linboom and a brother, E. Donald Shipp.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Ave., Rock Falls. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Robert Hasselbring, pastor, officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Alzheimer’s research.
