Man pleads guilty to child battery

MORRISON – A Franklin Grove man could face 6 to 30 years in prison at his May 31 sentencing for injuring a boy younger than 13.

Marcus J. Dewey, 21, pleaded guilty March 20 in Whiteside County Court to aggravated battery to a child; a charge of aggravated battery of a child causing permanent disability was dismissed.

Dewey “severely” injured a boy younger than 13 on Oct. 16, 2011. There were no broken bones, but there were bruises and other marks, Sterling police said.
