Vote Bushman for road chief

Published: Tuesday, April 2, 2013 1:15 a.m. CST

Jim Bushman has been road commissioner for Palmyra Township for the past 12 years and has proved successful in his duties as commissioner. He dedicates himself full time to the position as road commissioner and has since Day 1.

Some of the ones running against him have full-time jobs and also want to be road commissioner. My concern is if one of the others is elected, he could not perform the duties of commissioner while working a full-time job.

Another one of my concerns is, with four other candidates on the ballot, the people who support Jim Bushman need to get out to the polls and vote.

That is the most important thing of all. Without your vote on the ballot, Jim Bushman cannot and will not win this election. Please get out and vote, and let’s retain Jim Bushman as Palmyra Township road commissioner. He has proved himself.

Don’t go by the fancy signs and ‘I can do this job’ talk. Let’s retain the man who has proved he can do the job. If it isn’t broke, let’s not fix it.

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
