ROCK FALLS – The Rock Falls High School Board on Wednesday unanimously approved a 1-year contract for incoming Principal Mike Berentes.

The contract includes a $90,000 annual salary, board President Merle Gaulrapp said.

The board earlier this month named Berentes, now assistant principal, as the new principal. He will replace Ron McCord, who will be the next superintendent.

Superintendent Jane Eichman is retiring at the end of this school year.

Berentes is a Rock Falls High School alumnus. He was hired as assistant principal in 2010.
