Easter egg hunts around the Sauk Valley

Five- and 6-year-olds dash for goodies hidden inside 10,000 Easter eggs during the 2009 Easter egg hunt put on by Sterling Park District at Sauk Valley Community College. Several easter egg hunts are planned this year throughout the Sauk Valley.

Bobbing for bobbing eggs

STERLING – The Sterling-Rock Falls Family YMCA, 2505 YMCA Way, plans an Easter egg hunt in the pool at 5:30 p.m. It's free for Y members and $5 per family for nonmembers.

Divisions are 3 to 5 years at 5:30 p.m. (parents must accompany children in the pool); 6 and 7 at 6 p.m. 8-10 at 6:30 p.m. Call 815-535-9622 for more information.

RNA hunt in Tampico

TAMPICO – Royal Neighbors of America's annual Easter egg hunt will be at 10:30 a.m. at Booth Park. Participants are asked to bring their own baskets.

Oregon's egg hunts

OREGON – The Oregon Park District's Flashlight Egg Hunt for kids in grades 5-8 begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Oregon Park West.

The hunt for toddlers through grade 4 begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, also at the park.

Kids must bring their own baskets to collect eggs, candy and prizes. Admission is free; registration is not required.

Assembly of God hunt

EGGstravaganza in Dixon

DIXON – Lincoln Avenue Church of God's third annual Family Fun EGGstravaganza will be from 1 to 3 p.m. at 710 S. Lincoln Ave. There will be bounce houses, face painting, snacks, music, Easter basket giveaways, and a huge egg hunt.

Egg hunt at Nazarene church

STERLING – Egg hunts, fair games, prizes, face-painting, egg dying, and food will be available free of charge at the annual community Easter EGGstravaganza from 3 to 5 p.m. at Sterling First Church of the Nazarene, 411 13th Ave.

Egg hunt at Rock River Christian

ROCK FALLS – The Rock River Christian Center is offering a free Easter Eggstravaganza. Registration begins at 9:30 and the hunt at 10 a.m. at 1800 Prophetstown Road.

Easter magic in Mount Morris

MOUNT MORRIS – A free "Eggstravaganza" for kids 12 and younger starts with an Easter egg hunt at 10:30 a.m. in Dillehay Park, at the intersection of Stengel Drive and South Ogle Avenue.

After the hunt, there will be an Easter party at Evangelical Free Church of Mount Morris, 102 S. Seminary Ave., where magician Brett Belleque will put on a show and the church’s puppet team will perform. There will be door prizes and treats.

The event is sponsored by the Mount Morris Lions Club and the church.

DIXON – The Dixon Elks Lodge and Dixon Park District's free egg hunt begins at 1 p.m. April 6 at The Meadows soccer fields, 1550 Washington Ave.

Age divisions are 2 and younger; 3 and 4; 5 and 6; 7 and 8; 9 and 10; and 11 and 12.

Hunt at Wooden Wonderland

DIXON – First United Methodist Church plans an egg-stra special Easter Egg hunt from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Wooden Wonderland in The Meadows Park, 1300 Washinton Ave. There also will be carnival games, bouncy houses, the Easter bunny, stories and snacks.
