DIXON – Seldon “Catfish” O’Neal, 85, of Dixon, died Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at his home. He worked at Henry Pratt Co. in Dixon for 40 years, retiring in 1991.

Seldon was born July 28, 1927, in Fancy Farm, Ky., the son of Delbert and Florence Ellen (Handley) O’Neal. He married Delores A. Reid on June 24, 1961, in Dixon. He was a member of Dixon Moose Lodge 727 since 1957; and Dixon Elks Lodge, The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks 779, since 1976. Catfish was an avid fisherman. He loved to garden, and took great pride in his barbecue.

Survivors include his wife, Delores O’Neal, three sons, Gary Dale O’Neal, Scott O’Neal, and Terry (Dawn) O’Neal, and one daughter, April (Kim) Gallagher, all of Dixon; two sisters, Freda Richard of Wingo, Ky., and Pearl (Donald) Star of Mayfield, Ky.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and five sisters.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dan Smith officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.  

A memorial has been established.
