DIXON – A Dixon woman has pleaded not guilty to theft, financial fraud, computer fraud, financial exploitation of an elderly person, and wire fraud.

Audrey E. Stanley, known in Lee County documents as Audrey E. Smith, 32, has a pretrial hearing May 9 in Lee County Court. She entered her plea March 21.

Smith, a former employee of an Oregon bank, made a series of withdrawals from an elderly Dixon woman’s accounts at Amcore and Midland States banks and took out loans on the woman’s property, prosecutors say.

Smith was manager of the Oregon branch of Rockford-based Amcore Bank, which was sold to Effingham-based Midland States Bank in January 2011. Court records don’t indicate whether her charges are related to her bank job.

Among other things, Smith made withdrawals between Aug. 2, 2006 and April 15, 2010, in the woman’s name, and mortgaged her home for more than $100,000, court records say.

Smith is free after posting $15,000 of her $150,000 bond.
