Thank you for Farmers’ Night success

Published: Saturday, April 13, 2013 1:15 a.m. CST

The Rock Falls Rotary Club would like to thank the many people who made the 65th annual Farmers’ Night a success this year.

Sponsors of this annual event were Art Johnson Oil Co., Peabudy’s, The Cornerstone Agency, Vern’s Farm Supply, Beiermann Agri-Systems, Birkey’s Farm Store, DeKalb Feed, 1st Farm Credit Services, Gold Star FS, Pete Harkness Auto Group, Sauk Valley Bank and Sterling Federal Bank.

I also thank all members of the Rock Falls Rotary who sponsored guests and donated door prizes and desserts for the dessert auction, especially Keith Zoeller, who chaired this event. Special thanks are extended to the members of the Sterling Drum Line and their director, Mike McCoy, who shared their talent and love of rhythm and music with all.

All proceeds support scholarships for high school youth.

Most of all, I thank the many guests of the agricultural community who joined us for the evening at Deer Valley.

Note to readers – Jan Whitlock is president of Rock Falls Rotary.

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
