Not thrilled by more liquor and potholes

Published: Saturday, March 30, 2013 1:15 a.m. CDT

Some families are disappointed in the new businesses coming to Sterling and Rock Falls. We are certainly happy about the old buildings coming down on Second Street, but a sports bar and grill is not our idea of family businesses. What do the mayoral candidates think?

Also, in Sterling, the “brew and view” is also disappointing in that we were hoping family fare would be downtown again, a place for teens to hang out and see family movies.

We are trying to keep a positive attitude about our community, but more liquor licenses go against our grain of thought. Sure, it helps bring revenue into the city; maybe we can get more roads fixed?

Try driving on Seventh Avenue, and now Eighth Avenue is starting to get holes; also Fourth Street and Third Avenue. One street was done last year, and my letter to Mayor Blanton stated that it is expensive to do roads. I understand that, but I still don’t like my car being unaligned by potholes.

We want to be proud of our city, and our family that comes from Florida and Wisconsin can’t believe how the roads have deteriorated.

Elections are coming up in April. Please vote.
