CLINTON, Iowa – Anna May Mitchell, 86, of Clinton, died Sunday, March 24, 2013, at Mercy Living Center South in Clinton. She was employed by General Electric Co. in Morrison for 25 years, retiring in 1987.  

Anna was born July 3, 1926, in Fulton, the daughter of Dick K. and Winnie (Balk) Wiebenga. She married Lyle R. Mitchell on Feb. 12, 1946, in Morrison. He preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 1979.

Survivors include four daughters, Donna (LaVerne) Schroeder, Roberta (Lawrence) Vanderploeg, and Linda (Richard Sr.) VanKampen, all of Fulton, and Leah Ann (Greg) Duncan of Camanche, Iowa; four sons, Raymond (Judy) Mitchell and Warren (Sharon) Mitchell, both of Clinton, and Leonard (Loretta) Mitchell and Daniel (Roni) Mitchell, both of Fulton; 24 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Sylvia Vegter of Morrison; one brother, Harvey Wiebenga, and one sister-in-law, Henrietta Wiebenga, both of Clinton; and many nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by one son, William Mitchell; one sister, Rena Wiebenga; and three brothers, George and Clarence L. Wiebenga, and Clarence W. Wiebenga in infancy.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday and the funeral at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home in Fulton, with the Rev. Dennis Glew, associate pastor of First United Methodist Church in Clinton, officiating. Interment will be at Lower York Cemetery in Thomson.

Memorials have been established.
