Semi-pro basketball: Predators bid to open 5-0 tipped away in last second

Published: Monday, March 25, 2013 12:07 a.m. CST

With 9-tenths of a second left, the Sauk Valley Predators’ bid to remain unblemished was denied in a 104-102 loss to the Indiana Diesels on Sunday in Broad Ripple Village, Ind.

Indiana guard Harry Marshell tipped home the game-winner, and the Predators’ leading scorer, Kwan Waller missed the last-second heave from three-quarters court.

Charles Corbin scored a game-high 21 points for Sauk (4-1), and was the third player to lead the Preds in scoring this season. His average improved to 12.7 points per game.

The Diesels won their first game of the IBA-PBL season.

The Preds will look to get back on track next Saturday against Springfield, in the lone game this season that will be played at Eastland High School in Lanark.
