Dukes lose season opener
Owen Van Horn did a fine job of quieting the Silver Streaks, but the hosts already led big in a 10-0, five-inning victory Friday at the Galesburg Invitational.
Galesburg took a 9-0 lead with eight runs in the second. Two of them were charged to Dixon (0-1) starter Cal Jarrett (0-1), six of them to reliever Alex Strum.
Van Horn took the ball in the third and held the Silver Streaks scoreless until a two-out walkoff single by Drew Diaz in the bottom of the fifth.
