Medical center donates equipment

ROCKFORD – The OSF St. Anthony Medical Center Foundation has funded the purchase of KingVISION video laryngoscopes for its emergency medical services department to share with its partner agencies in the region.

The 44 units were presented to 17 agencies March 21. A video laryngoscope is a tool that allows first responders to access patient airways and insert tubes to assist breathing. The machines allow personnel to have direct visualization of the patient’s airways on video screens.

Locally, laryngoscopes were delivered to CGH EMS in Sterling, and Mount Carroll Ambulance, Mount Morris Fire, Prophetstown Ambulance, Rochelle Fire, and Savanna Ambulance departments.
