Chorus was left behind at the bus stop
All dressed up and no way to go. I write on behalf of the Melody Makers, a chorus of mostly senior citizens. We sing several times a month at area nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
When we travel to Dixon, Morrison or Prophetstown, we purchase bus rides from Whiteside County Public Transportation. On March 7, we had promised a program for Resthave in Morrison.
We arranged well ahead of time for bus pickup at our gathering point, Sterling Towers. Whiteside County Public Transportation set that [pickup] time between 1:15 p.m. and 1:40 p.m. We were surprised and unhappy when the bus arrived 15 minutes early, left without us, and canceled our trip.
Immediate phone calls all gave the same response. We would have to reschedule for another day. The computer did not allow for the bus to wait longer, and the computer would not let the bus come back for us.
We strongly feel:
1) People are more important than computers; and
2) Common sense and consideration could have prevented inconvenience and disappointment for the chorus members, the Resthave staff, and the nursing home residents.
