ROCK FALLS – Centennial Park Lake is getting stocked around 7 or 8 a.m. Tuesday in advance of spring trout season, which opens at 5 a.m. April 6, Coloma Park District Director Mike Sterba said.

The state also is stocking Hennepin Canal Parkway in Bureau County and Pine Creek in White Pines State Park in Mount Morris, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources said in a news release.

They are among more than 40 lakes, creeks and ponds being stocked with more than 60,000 rainbows, IDNR Director Marc Miller said Wednesday, adding that the spring trout fishing season is a great opportunity for families and children to get outside and enjoy nature.

To legally participate, anglers must have a valid Illinois fishing license and an inland trout stamp.

A list of locations where the licenses and stamps may be bought, and a list of the bodies of water that have been stocked, can be found at www.dnr.illinois.gov or by calling 888-673-7648. Stamps and licenses also can be bought at that number or online.
