Group interpretation team falls short at state

STERLING – The Sterling High School group interpretation team fell short at the state drama and group interpretation tournament Friday and Saturday in Springfield after advancing out of the sectional tournament last weekend in Rock Island.

The team did not place at the state meet, but won first place at the sectional meet for its presentation of "The Homecoming of Samuel Lake," by Jenny Wingfield.

The students on the team are: Zach Woessner, Hannah Matheny, Anne Zigler, Abbey Zacharski, Bradley Schlegel, Meghan Clodfelter, Collin Zollinger, Hannah Jakobs, Hunter Wolfe, Evan Lobdell, Clarissa Worcester, James Schauff, Kestrel Smoot and Maryn Palmer.

The students are coached by Tim Schlegel and Jill Price.

The Sterling team has advanced to the state tournament 18 years in a row; the sectional title was its ninth.
