DIXON – Thelma B. Schafer, 80, of Dixon, died Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at KSB Hospital in Dixon. 

She was born April 2, 1932, in Greenville, Miss., the daughter of Weston and Leana Lector (Weeks) Hunt. She married Richard H. Schafer on Nov. 10, 1953, in Greenville.  He preceded her in death on Oct. 18, 2005.

Survivors include her daughter, Deborah (Randy) Smith of Dixon; two grandchildren, Heather Smith and David Fry; two stepgrandchildren, Tyson Smith and Maureen Simpson; two great-grandchildren, Devin and Dylan Fry; several step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard Savage of Mississippi; and two sisters, Jewel Dean Whitaker of Florida and Ruby Taylor of Alabama.

She also was preceded in death by four brothers, W.D. Savage, Alvin Savage, Albert Savage, and Dan Savage; and two sisters, Lovie Savage and Lucille Beach.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and the memorial service for Thelma and her husband, Richard, at 7 p.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home in Dixon, with the Rev. Janet Wittenmyer, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dixon, officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded. 

A memorial has been established.
